Kein Konto

Was auf deinem Telefon bleibt

Beschwerden richtest du zuerst an uns oder an das Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

No account

Roughly has no user account. You never enter a name, email address or password. To count your daily AI entries, the app generates a random identifier on first launch and keeps it in the device keychain. It survives reinstalling the app, is shown in Settings and carries nothing about you as a person.

What stays on your phone

Your meals, your daily goal, your weight, your goal direction and your activity level are stored only on your phone, in the app’s local database. Nothing of this is synced to iCloud or sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it all; single entries of the current day can be deleted in Today.

AI estimates

When you ask for an estimate, the photo (reduced to 640 pixels on the long side) or your typed or spoken description is sent to our server and from there to Mistral AI, which produces the estimate. Our server runs on Supabase in Frankfurt (EU).

We store: your device identifier, the date and time, the kind of request, the model used, the number of tokens, the cost, whether it succeeded, and your language. We do not store the photo and we do not store the description — both are passed through and discarded.

Mistral keeps requests for up to 30 days for abuse detection and then deletes them. The data is not used to train models.

Speech

When you speak a meal, Apple’s speech recognition turns it into text. Where your device supports it, this happens on the device. Otherwise the audio is sent to Apple’s servers, and Apple’s privacy policy applies. Only the resulting text reaches us, never the audio.

Subscription

Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details. To know whether Premium is active, the app uses RevenueCat (USA). RevenueCat receives your device identifier as customer ID, Apple’s vendor identifier (IDFV), your device model, iOS version, app version, preferred language and the purchase state, and forwards purchase events to our server. Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU standard contractual clauses in RevenueCat’s data processing agreement.

Product database

Searching for a product or scanning a barcode queries Open Food Facts (France) directly from your phone. Open Food Facts therefore sees your search term or the barcode and your IP address, together with the app’s name, version and our contact address. No identifier of yours is sent.

Why we may do this

We process this data to provide the service you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The request log serves to enforce the daily limit, to detect abuse and to account for costs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Nothing is used for advertising, and we run no analytics or tracking.

How long we keep it

Request log: 90 days. Subscription events: 12 months. The device record: 12 months after the last activity, unless a subscription is active. Deletion runs automatically every night. Our hosting provider keeps technical server logs, including IP addresses, according to its own retention.

Your rights

You can delete everything we hold about your device at any time in Settings under “Delete my data”. This removes the request log, the subscription events and the device record from our server. It does not cancel a subscription — that you manage in your Apple account.

For access, correction or any other request, email us and quote the identifier shown in Settings — it is the only way we can find your data. You may also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).

If you live in California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell your personal information and do not share it for advertising. You may ask what we hold and have it deleted — the delete button in Settings does exactly that.

If you live in Canada (PIPEDA): we collect only what the service needs, for the purposes described here. You may ask for access or withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data in Settings.

If you live in Australia (Privacy Act 1988): we follow the Australian Privacy Principles. Complaints go to us first, or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Children

Roughly is not intended for children under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here and in the app, with its date.
